Hunting is one sport where the benchmark for ethical behaviour is the standards that you set for yourself - except for the enforceable laws, and broad social expectations (e.g a humane kill).
I've always been hesitant to judge other hunters on their ethics. And I must say that my "ethics" or approach have changed somewhat with the rising numbers of deer.
It seems that some people though are very happy to not only set their own standards, but to then want to foist them onto others.
I reckon if people want to use thermals, and so long as its legal, fill your boots.
And when push comes to shove, ethics are a flexible and contextual concept. I bet there isn't a sole on here (apart from maybe the OP) who wouldn't want to get into a chopper and spend an hour blazing away at deer like in the good-ol-days.
