Kaikoura delivers again
After going out last week I managed to get another trip again last evening. Wife must be happy at the moment but then again our daughter has just returned from the World Special Olympic games on Friday from Berlin (both very happy to see her after three weeks away).
This time I took a family friend out who's just started into the hunting game. We got to the location and headed out on the quad glassing as we went. Saw 5 Chamois in a group which was really cool and unusual place for them but off the allowed to shoot list. Sidled round into a little valley where there was less wind and saw nothing. Then walked slowly along heading to a new spot but had only gone about 50 metres when the arse end of a very bright fully white fallow spiker appeared. Snuck in closer and the young fella was trying to get comfortable for the shot but buggered around. Spiker caught sight of the movement as he was re adjusting to a semi laying position on the side of the hill but was unsure of what we were--- his last mistake !! .308 flattened him at about 60 metres.
One very happy young man and happy older bugger. He's going to try and save the skin for tanning etc

He was very very happy--second deer on the board and he did everything right. Just got to try and get a wallaby hunt lined up at some stage for him next. Quite a few white ones in the Kaikoura area.
