    kaikoura goats

    hey folks

anyone been out and about in the kaikouras and seen a few goats? know there are a few around haycocks bivy but its a fair way in. looking for overnight or 3 night trip with a mate thats coming up from invervagas. using the 308 so happy going out to 400m probably a bit further if i want to test things. wondering if anyone has seen them floating around. he prefers goats to venison so figure there must be some around somewhere. happy to tent out rather than using a hut, would prefer to take a dog with me.

feel free to P.M. me if you know of a spot but dont want the whole world to know where.

he also isnt keen on walking in the snow, fair enough i guess i'm not that keen on cold feet!

I am looking for a goat if anyone has some spots they are happy to share. I don't shoot many or get out after big game often so no chance of me shooting them all. Shot a few up there years back but as others have said it gets heli culled regularly so my old spots are no longer any good (or at least they weren't last time I went).

I want to grok it on a fundamental level by conducting research on it in the same way Japan researches whales.

Well I found one cheers @veitnamcam plenty of sign of bigger critters around. 3hrs driving, 10km of crazy boulder hopping and a cold tent in the tent for one stinky.... Not sure it was worth it but goat curry for a few nights and I might think it was! Will be going back in again shortly if anyone wants to join
