    Kaimanawa huts/parking

    Hi everyone
With being told no work this week I have decided it's time to go to Wellington to visit my lovely mother, and plan to stop off for a hunt on the way back to Auckland. I will be in a Corolla station wagon so can't go anywhere too adventurous. I am thinking somewhere in the Kaimanawas because I really enjoyed my time there earlier this year, maybe one of the huts or maybe just pitching a tent at Clements Road and making day trips in from there. Does anyone have any recommendations? I'm thinking I will probably have 3 days max. Would I be foolish to leave a car and gear at the road end or am I being paranoid? Or is there a better place to leave the car and make a trip deeper in for the whole time?

EDIT. Gonna skip it and try my luck closer to Wellington, I can always nip a few hours south of Auckland

Clements would be a great option out the back of a Toymotor ... and as the Roar is over your chances of getting yourself shot are reduced as well ...
