    kaweka makino river

    Hi just wondering if anyone has been in this area hunting lately , am planning a trip there shortly but will go elsewere if it is crawling with hunters.any info greatly appreciated.

    Go and have a look. There are a heap of sika up that way. Waimatai or Munguturutu streams well worth a look too

    Brookwells isnt too far off Waimatai too. Great spot to park up. I can't hunt there anymore as Im always looking at the trout!

    Nathan F is correct..... but you don't need to go far in that part of the Makino to get onto deer.

    One of the very few places I have been where I have never failed to see an animal on a trip, and I started in there in 1981.
