    Kiko Rd

So on the DoC website they were saying that Kiko Rd would re open in June. Since June has come and gone and the road was still closed I sent an email to see if they had an idea of when it would open.
    Here’s the response

    Kia ora Richard,

Sorry we don't have a re-open date at this stage.

Forest Managers have advised they have no ETA on Kiko Road reopening at this stage unfortunately.

Kiko Road is a private road, the owners have the road closed for safety reasons as they have forestry teams doing ongoing clearing following cyclone damage.

Access into the Kaimanawa Forest Park is still available via Clements Mill Rd, Kaimanawa Rd, Tree Trunk Gorge Rd.

    Kind regards
    Daniella

Notice there is no mention of Rangipo Intake Rd or Waipakahi Rd. I’ve queried it but no reply as yet.

    And here’s the reply:

    Hi Richard,

Yes both Waipakihi Road and Rangipo Intake roads will closing in the near future. The land is privately owned.

If you have enquiries please contact Lake Rotoira Forest Trust PH07-386 8834 , website https://www.lrft.co.nz/

Once these 2 roads are closed, the Kaimanawa Forest Park can still be accessed via other access roads such as Tree Trunk Gorge Road, Kaimanawa Road, Clements Mill Road and Kiko Road when it reopens.

    Kind regards
    Daniella

Waipakahi and Rangipo intake aren’t all good though

The land might be private but is the road a 'legal road', worth checking

Having never been there, I'd love to see Kiko Road open for public hunting again. A few of us have really noticed how "flighty" the sika have become in Clements over the last year. Either that or I'm most likely spooking them! The closure of the Eastern Kawekas (unless you can afford shares in Helisika) and Kiko Road has funnelled a lot of hunters to the more obvious spots.

They already have a gate in place on waipakahi rd, only a matter of time. Helisika are right in behind this also. Remember that next time you want to fly in. Personally I will never fly with them again.

Yeah sounds like NZFM are sorting out that whole Southern part of the Lake Taupo Forest before opening Kiko (and the rest of the forest which will then open for permit holders also).
