    Kirkliston Hunting Block.

Hi all, looking to go into kirkliston hunting block and wondering what access is like into the block. Wondering if you can drive into there with permission or it’s all walking access only. Would love to hear about anyone’s past experiences hunting in there also. Cheers 🤘

I was up there (Southern end, Pearson hut I think) about 10 years ago. Shot a ripper Chamois buck, I'm sure there will be more there now, along with fallow I'd think. We walked from the car, didn't take that long to get to the top, unless you're over about 80 you could probably walk it too. The track back then was beyond most if not all 4wds, maybe ya might have gotten a motorbike or quad up it.

Awesome thank you ! Will head in there and do some exploring. Pack on and into it. Hopefully the weather stays nice and there's not too much snow on the ground.

Have hunted it 5 or 6 times in the last 12 months. Animal numbers are pretty low. Apart from the wallabys. Also hunted north side twice super recently with a thermal. Not much happening up that end unless your wanting some wallaby for pet food.

Funny you should ask, I hadn't encountered them for many years but got acquainted with them again in there - not to shoot, just to hear the funny wee buggers and see them run off, literally flipping the bird at us when they thought it was safe to fly

My dad shot it last year for Doc, few deer around but mostly on the fringe of the Private stuff. Shit tonnes of wallabies.

Was some awesome country in there for sure. Saw a couple of young chamois left to live for another day and one hind. Live animal numbers were pretty low but saw quite a few dead deer around the place. Such a shame. 1080 really wacked that block. Not many wallabies around the public land but still plenty on the private. Might go back in a year or so .

Yeah. 1080 decimates the wallaby. Probably a good thing for the environment but not so good for us hunters. Its lucky for us they are still making them (wallaby, that is).
