Knives and side by side rifle mounts

    Hi Guys,

I feel I am in the market for a new knife as the svord is losing its edge too quick and getting a bit sick of it, mainly field dressing but a bit of all round use would be ideal, any suggestions for off the shelf?
Also wondering how people are carrying their rifles in a side by side that can also be quickly accessible if an animal popped out.

    Cheers!

Do you have a windscreen?. A few mates have gun rack mounted on the dash or bonnet of their side x sided, like these ones.

Wow, is this knife still available? My Dad gave me one 55 years ago and told me it was the best all-round knife for a man (I was 13). I've still got it somewhere...

If you have a garden and a library, you have all you need. Oh, and a dog, and a rifle

Looks the same as 55 years ago except the handle was wooden back then. It wasn't a brilliant skinner but great for everything else and easy to keep sharp.

Not too many knives around with good steel of the shelf.
Try to get at least something with 440c.

Might need to look at the profile on the svord knife? Seems strange that that knife is losing its edge quickly, the ones I've used have been as good as anything else I've used unless the edge is too rounded?

45-50 years ago the drench companies used to give away Green Rivers with the likes of Thibenzole drench, back when drench was administered orally. I still have two that my dad used to do all the home kills with. Wooden handles are all a bit buggered but the blades are still in good shape.

I used mine for everything.the steel is brilliant for me,soft enough a steel brings it back up. Be aware the knifcut rabbitters knife as per sold by hunting n fishing LOOK identical but the two steels are completely different.knifecut version much harder...not to my liking so much.
