On the walk in, you can hunt the big slip across the river 45min or so in and the smaller ones after the last of the grass paddocks.
The river until you get to the forks is pretty rank, full of farm run off.
Don't drink from the side stream where the rope is either, it comes from the farm.
Don't poach the farmland, remember where the boundaries are.
Otherwise head downstream of the forks and hunt the first sidestream on the true left, opens out after a bit.
You can head up the other fork too, that ends up at Tawa by the long way.
    Timmay and tetawa like this.

they have not long had a tidy up at the hut. closed in the deck etc. maybe new fireplace. mate walk in couple weeks ago. went to have swim in the water hole and there is a dead deer sitting on the bottom so he flagged that idea. Said there hadnt been many visitors to the hut or hadnt filled out the log book. Parking is pretty good most off the time. River should be low as they havnt had much rain in the last couple off weeks. Stay off the farm land and you will have no trouble

Good to hear. Last time I was there the hut was filthy, full of mice and had holes everywhere and muppets had burnt the chairs/stools in the fire.
