    Lake Hauroko History

Interesting short article with photo. My dad went on an epic trip to the top of the Lake Hauroko in the old punt with a seagull motor they carried in before the road was put in.
For those who have been to Hauroko the hut was situated on same side as the current boat park in the still cleared area with a few picnic tables - how he put up with sandflies beats me!

Interesting..the cooks father built a hut in there before the road was put in. They got real close ti where the maori princess was on the Island at one stage.
The chap that first found the remains was the cooks fathers neighbour..he dropped dead shortly after???
