Lake Lyndon area
Good evening all
I was up at lake Lyndon last weekend revisiting some old haunts from around 8 years ago but saw bugger all, has the place been shot out?
was a good day for a walk anyway and even got the kids up on the hillside which they loved

It's well over hunted now! Had a military exercise out there and there was atleast 5-8 different rifles going for a shoot during the 1 day I was out there

Bugger I had a good spot out there, maybe mid winter there may be something still hanging around a valley.

not a bad thing, bit of pork in the freezer plus need to use the mosin as its begging for a walk back down in the real NZ
-
Nice! I've wanted a mosin for a while now! They're quite rare these days

I knew it wouldn't be a deer or pig, seen loads of them, never seen chamois but at least there is proof of a large buck hare :P

Did you get my message Spectre?

so close to chch, and with the rebuild, a lot of tradies with a rifle came in looking for easy spots. So its either become a range on the cheap, or a easy access spot.
If you like bush hunting there are plenty of animals in 13mile bush as some w4nker cut the fence at Peak Hill last year.

Seen 2 deer a couple weeks ago driving to chch from the road on the Hoki side of the lake and back a bit around 8am. Have often seen deer and chamois in the area while driving to or from chch over the years.

Last time I went up there (mid week) the place was full of dogs and pig hunters....

I went for a walk in the Lyndon area when I moved to CHCH a few months ago.
I saw 1 deer briefly on a slip and a handful of hunters.
Go get her:
