well im no pig expert ....... just sharing really ........ a couple of occasions in pureora , first time navigating thru some pretty crappy bush dog ranging a little and we hear this squealing ...work our way to it and heres the dog chasing 2 piglets eventually catching one and running round with it in her mouth while it squeals its head off.....thinkin mum would have been fairly close told her to drop it as we didnt want to take on a dirty old sow in the confined shit we were in dog was well pleased with herself i was pleased she dropped it when told as up to that point she was untested on game and i wasnt sure if the excitement would take over. the second time we were climbing up out of a gut and i smelt this awful B.O smell (like a kingscross hooker that hadnt cleaned herself for a month....maybe worse) the dog mooched off to higher ground and disappeared in the ladder ferns and shit next thing this decent boar come barreling down past us (within 10m)with dog nipping at its heels.... neither boar or dog were making any noise i was too slow to close the bolt and safely take a shot so called her off again glad she stopped dead in her tracks when called.....boar would have been the size of a big rottweler so maybe 65-75kg (dunno im guessing)too much for my 17kg whippet cross think she would have got seriously fucked up if the boar had have run out of options and turned on her.
