    Late roar

    Had a red stag roaring his nut off on 7th June, anybody heard one this late.

    if hind missed getting preggers twice its entirely possible she cycling now..some of farm lads still going but not many now at all,they are skin n bone.

    Not as late as June but heard strong Red Stag roaring in early May in one South Island location. Was 2 or 3 years ago.

    Not a hind calling a fawn? They can be very vocal and it sounds very similar to a roar. Don’t hear them much in the bush but shifting a mob of hinds and fawns, especially when fawns are young they can make a helluva noise.

    Thought the same thing myself, couldn't see him but he roared maybe 20 times.

    Had a sika stag hee haw yesterday morning in the forbidden zone of Poronui Station. I was across the river speculating on how big he was and hoping he'd wander to my side...
