Just curious to know if there are other left hand shooters that use right hand rifles? My dominant eye is my left eye. Using a left hand rifle would feel awkward ( working the bolt ) and it's never hindered me shooting right hand rifles. Would be Interested to hear about others in the same boat.

USED TOO and still can but anything with a biased stock is horrible. Once you go left you never go back ;)

No. Only shoot lefthanded but use righthanded rifles. Yeah weird I know. I could learn to either 1. Use a left hand rifle or 2. Shoot right handed but have never felt the need.
Yer, I started with the old .303 and then to a P Hale right handed bolt .308, if I had thought about it I really should have got a Savage lever action but when young the brain is asleep. Now my hunting is with a Marlin .3030 .
Beeman and Deereman both lefties shooting right handed rifles always have, they can operate the right hand bolt pretty much as quick as a right hand shooter can.
im a lefty all my rifles are left handed suits me. its a piss off with little rifle selection and increase pricing though. its worth paying more to buy one.

I'm kinda both. Shoot with the right. But my left eye is the dominant. For pistol it's fine as it gives me a longer eye-to-sights distance. For the rifle, hey I'm a real real home-grown genius who is able to shut one eye at a time... Not ideal.
I'm in the process of mounting a picatinny rail on the left side of my SMLE sporter's receiver. Will be using an offset set of scope mounts on this (offset up/right). It will allow me to mount a scope without obstructing the open iron sights and which does not obstruct stripper clip loading. Incidentally, while setting it up I saw I might be able to look through the scope with my left and dominant eye if remove the cheek pad. Have to wait and see about that one.

I am left handed mostly there are somethings I do righthand because it's easier I am lucky my eye dominance is not very strong to the left
I started out shooting lefthand with a .22lr semi but after getting pissed off with the lack of lefthand guns and gas blowing in my face I switch
to righthand still shoot pistols lefthand it feesl off doing it righthand
I'm left eyed/handed but used right handed hunting rifles for years, then a lever (MLR). When I finally got a left handed bolt it took a few outings to get used to but I am so glad I did it. What a difference.
I love giving right handers my rifles. They play with them for a while and say "God that feels awkward".
I’m left handed, shoot left handed but am right eye dominant, so have to close it. I have had left handed rifles, and they suit me better, both the action and the comb. All the classy old rifles are right handed, and those are what I own and shoot now, without issue.
But most of all I prefer lever actions, which are generally ambidextrous, with the exception of the safeties on some.
Interesting thread. Left-handed here too. I use VZ33 mauser actions on the hunting rifles (bolt right side) but the stocks are all set up for left-handed use. For me there are two issues with this setup: reduced protection in a case failure situation, and needing to break position between shots when working the bolt. Other than that I quite like having the open side of the action facing me in a rifle for stalking. It provides constant visibility of the bolt position and where a partially-chambered round is. There are also right-handed M70 3-position side swing safeties on all of them, and these are probably more convenient for a leftie to use (with the thumb) than if they were on the RHS.
The Barnard here is left-handed action though for the reasons above.
I'm left handed and only buy and shoot left handed rifles/shotguns, including a LH BAR. For the semis I like having the safety in the right place and the empty not crossing my eye line (I shoot both eyes open). For the bolt guns, I LH action just feels so natural, both to work the action and to close the bolt on a deer
I am right handed but left eye dominant so shoot left handed. Haven't shot a left hand rifle before but don't have an issue with my right handed one.
I shoot left handed after an eye injury about 4 years ago. Still use r h rifles.
Boyds l h thumb hole stocks work well and pistol grip chassis types.

My main niggle being a leftie is ue bloody safety on some rifles, my 10/22 is a prime candidate

I have the same gripe, even “ambidextrous” lever actions have this problem. Cross bolt and trigger guard safeties on late 1894 Winchesters and 1899 Savages are oriented for RH shooters.Quote:

May work for your shooting left shoulder, but aiming with right eye (helped by recoil pad lengthen shoulder stock stock for correct face position).

So, to recap, I am left eye dominant, right handed shooter. Additionally like shooting Lee Enfields which are endowed with larger magazines and with charger bridge for easy stripper clip loading. Having a scope on a Lee Enfield usually means goodbye to stripper clip use.
In comes two items from ebay, one the offset scope mounts in the posting above, the next a Picatinny rail with curved underside, which happens to fit the radius of my BSA SMLE receiver. I filed the rail to accommodate the charging bridge and made an indent to continue the thumb notch. Best tools for working on the aluminium alloy Picatinny rail were a flat and a round rasp file, anything finer clogs up. Drilling of holes in receiver, then threading using plenty oil and frequent reverses to break shavings. I was not concerned to "ruin" the rifle as it already had had a parker hale scope mount screwed into receiver and charger bridge as per usual. A Chinese 3-9x40 in the Chinese scope rings atop the Chinese Picatinny rail, to keep it all authentically Empire made. Sorry about the Opium Wars.
I had had a thought that an offset scope mounting would allow me to use my left eye while gunning from my right shoulder. Possible but a recipe for a wry neck. Looking at ergonomics, with stock against my biceps, my trigger finger was going round the front of the trigger guard so a stock lengthener was required. Botched one up from some oil-proof backed felt from the Warehouse, a wooden block, carpet nails, glue and a nylon strap with snap buckles. Now able to shoot comfortably while aiming with my left eye. Point of gravity has shifted somewhat forward what with the scope and the longer stock, so I'll fill up the unused stock compartment with lead shot.
Looking forwards to take it to the range, now no longer limited by the open iron sights I can finally get an idea of what she is able to do with Robert's lead pills. I don't think the offset will cause any big problems sighting in. It is interesting that due to the left hand rifling official documents stated the Mk VII spitzer drifted 1 inch to the left every hundred yards after passing 100 yards. From this, if impact is 0.5" to the right of aim at 100 yds, it will be 0.5" to the left of aim at 200 yds.

The hole in the stock under the rear open iron sight, ??for a bipod or something. Too far back for lobbing sight, and it's anyway a Mk III* with no lobbing sights or mag cutoff.

I've got a LH Tikka that's fantastic, but have been using my RH Sako for the last year and get on fine. One thing that works better is the position of the safety on the RH rifle - I don't have to move my thumb over to the left to disengage.
Both my father in law and bro in law are right handed but left eye dominant.
They both have taught themselves to shoot left handed but use right handed rifles.
Apparantly they struggled to shoot right handed with right eye. Surely closing left eye would have sorted it?
I'm left handed and left eye dominant. I've shot RH rifles all my life and recently bought a .223 in a left hand bolt. I shoot it ok but have to really think about it when I go to work the action or muscle memory takes over and I go for a RH bolt that's not there.
I'm right handed but have shot left since I was 10, and am now 64. My left eye is much better than right so I switched shooting a BB gun and my parents asked why. Because I can see the sights better! I have only shot right handed rifles ever since and have tried left handed rifles but it isn't how I learned. I do have glasses now and can shoot either way but seldom do. Practice with whatever rifle you have to make it work.

Mines easy -do all your normal drills righthanded when it comes to the shot flick to your left shoulder and roberts your mothers brother.speaking of which rain and all C404 another mate and i are going out after some geese this am "-hiho fat alberts wakey wakey here we come ready or not".
fat alberts are ferals ,but theres canadas in the mix too and im long overdue.
