I'm heading in this weekend with the Back Country trust to shift the Leon Kinvig hut to its new site , there's a fair bit for us to get done but wondering if we should take at least a rifle with us ? Anyone been in recently ?
It'll be my first time deep in the Ruahines so any advice appreciated.

Definitely take the rifle!heaps of deer there.just stalk the river slips
Definitely take a rifle. There is good slip hunting from the river bed only 5 minutes up or down stream.
