Hello Guys - seems there is "new" hi-resolution aerial photography available from LINZ - here https://basemaps.linz.govt.nz/#@-43....11371,z16.7333
This is pretty good compared with what else is available - a great tool for finding spots . . .

Thanks Tentman. Just added it to my phone.
Very good. Loads quite a bit faster than WAMS. Checked out the farm and appears that at least some of the footage is 4-5 years old. Still pretty useful for finding slips and clearings though. The 40-50 year old logging tracks in Native I frequent still show up if you know where to look though
yup - about 7 year old footage in our area - I can tell cause my work car is parked in my ex girlfriends drive (just joking) but its that clear!
Might have saved me from some godawful bush bashing yesterday morning. But at least doing it rough reinforced some new knowledge deep into my psyche. Was still pulling bits of vegetation out one ear this morning hahaha.
That's pretty impressive alright. Very fast to move around and zoom in. What is really good is the detail you can pick up quickly when looking at quite large areas.
Thanks
Is it much different to Google Maps?
‘Many of my bullets have died in vain’
Try both and you will see that the LINZ database has much more definition than bog standard Google. Even WAMS shows up far more detail than G Earth. But G Earth will always have far more up to date imagery. Just not as clear when you attempt to zoom into each tussock bush
I have used MapsPast | Current and historical topographic maps (topomaps) of New Zealand seems to be the same aerial photos except the linz site loads faster. the beauty of the aerial photos over google earth is they try and take them on a nice cloudless day too.
Looks just the same as the linz maps on the nz topo maps app

Is the best one I have found for Canterbury Maps. Much better resolution maps than google maps.
