    Longrange (pig) hunt.

I used to have a pack of pigdogs, and was mad keen on hunting this way. But now I only have a couple of old dogs that are pretty low percentage when it come to catching a pig...they tend to just chase them around and I fluke the odd one or two.

So a change in direction was needed, enter the mighty 7mmWSM!!!!

Pretty happy with this bad boy, He'd killed a few early lambs and was making one hell of a mess in the farmers paddocks.

My days of carrying out big pigs 5km's through native bush in the Coromadel are over, I'd just bone it out now...but luckily for me it was shot on a private property, so I only had to carry it a couple of km's and all down hill. The reward was seeing the relief on the farmers face when I saw it dead (coming into lambing), he was really stressing - but very happy now.

26'' barrel, 162Amax @ 2980 to 3040fps (my chrony is doing my head in with ''consistently erratic'' results depending on what day you do it on????)

    Does the job.

Hi Mate, the shot wasn't ranged so I'd only be guessing at the actual range? The Amax certainly did the job, stopped the boar in its tracks! No massive exit holes, so nothing to take a pic of sorry...I've found that with most things I've shot with the Amax the exit hole isn't very big or it doesn't exit at all, but the internal damage is huge!

yeah, I find the same things. I sometimes hear of a big exit wound but in the few animals iv hit, they didn't have one.
that goat I shot last in your goat thread... I recovered the projectile it was about 69 grains.
all in all then do seem to work well though aye.
