    Looking for a book

Looking for a copy of an old NZFS pamphlet/book “A history of the eastern Kaweka Range” by Matthew Wright.

Has anyone on here heard of it or can point me in the right direction? Or alternatively any other books worth reading that provide a history of the Kawekas?

    Cheers

    Greetings Hebe,
West to the Annie gives a lot of the early history of farming the Kaweka Range. Forests of Yesterday by Pat Grant gives a lot of the geological history, Both of these should be in the Hastings Library.
    Regards Grandpamac.

It's listed on his author page but out of print
    Publications – Matthew Wright

Did the NZFS keep a library?
The Turnbull Library should have a copy

Fictional, but a book called "Dust Off For Willie Peters" is based around the Kawekas and one you wont put down

Lester Masters also wrote Two books, about the early days. But good luck finding any. ''Tales of the mails'' was one and I can't remember the other one.

The second book is called 'Back Country Tales' It has some information about the early days but often does not give dates. A Ripper read however with lots of detail on some of the early and chapters on some of the early huts. Deals with the SE Kaweka and NE Ruahine ranges. There is also a book of poems called 'Unfenced Country'.

Lester’s books are pretty rare but Backcountry Tales is for sale on TM: https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/marketpl...2?bof=YkugX4lc

“Ngamatea the land & the people” is another good historical account of the early days in the Kaimanawas and Kawekas
