Property prices in the last 12 months have certainly gone up in this country......despite the effect covid 19 was suppose to have on house prices? Some property experts are predicting this property bubble going to burst....but who really knows with long term low interest rates....deflation?

Daveg just go forward with your property plans you never know you might find a gem out there.

Speaking as a fellow Aussie who's dropped anchor in Marlborough, you can't go wrong with the south island! Couldn't afford the bush block myself, got a quarter acre on the edge of town instead. Too attached to being on the coast to live further inland.
Kaikoura has bloody good locals and some nice blocks hiding up the Puhi Puhi/inland road for recently. Last time I went through Inangahua junction there was a house or two for sale, dunno what the locals are like out there though. Guessing you'd could be dead and buried up there and still considered a visitor Bloody nice beaches out on the west coast too. Gotta like rain though. Spent a good chunk of time working in Westport and if you show up on a sunny day out there you'll never want to leave - then it rains for 3 weeks straight to remind you how everything stays green.

All the best trying to find a patch mate. There are definitely worse places to live.

I noticed on the weekend there are a couple of small places near Peel Forest that are very close to your budget. Nothing flash, but liveable

Yep. Consent/architect/concrete guys/septic guys/electrical dudes/builders/landscapers/heavy transport dudes etc etc would be involved. Some of them go to the pub so quite quickly all of NZ would know about it

Good move. There's a lifetime of exploring to do down there. Ideal place for a wee boat too. Only trouble is...the hills are steep!
