Looking at Tramping in the WBOP on the Easter weekend

Well looking at taking the family for an overnight tramp some where in the WBOP on the Easter Weekend.
Where would be a good spot not to get shot at, with the start of the Roar approaching ??????
Or am I best to hold off until the Roar is over ????

The further north in the Kaimais you go, the less animals there are (perceived to be). Not sure what your family's abilities are, but I'd suggest either Te Rereautkahia hut off Hot Springs Rd, or go in to Waitawheta Hut, off Franklin Rd, South of Waihi. The Waitawheta Valley is an awesome walk. Dead flat, so kids will handle it. Super scenic too. Lots of swimming holes. Goats. Be prepared to share the hut, if you can even get a bed booked over Easter.

Read this thread regarding Waitawheta. http://www.nzhuntingandshooting.co.n...kaimais-20658/

You have far more chance of getting killed on the drive there and back than shot in the bush.
Trampers aren't the main target for hunters and I can only ever remember one getting shot (in a spot light).
    K95 and mikee like this.
Experience. What you get just after you needed it.

Sound like the go, thanks for that
A bit of sleeping under the stars won't hurt anyone
