    It's looks rather low altitude, what abouts (roughly) is that at? I wish they came all the way down to our grass,

    up the rangitata. technically I was on public land, but we used station tracks to get there.

    awesome stuff. how low are they this time of year? im going to head out on my first ever trip for tahr in 2 weeks time and just want an idea of how low to look.... cheers

    I was out a week ago.. Easily accessible public land. Only saw bulls in the catchment we were in, but around 20 so gave a decent sample size. Last/First thing they were down around 900-1000, but didn't see any lower down than that. They were mostly bedding down around the 11-1200m mark, with a few up at more like 1300.

    We could see sign where they'd been down around 800, maybe a few weeks or a month prior.

    yep, took the full skin on the first one for tanning. Wife wants it as a rug in the bedroom
