    A lucky day

Left the hut and ran across a little pig within 500m. Dropped him and dragged him back to the meat safe

Then carried on up the hill, and found a Sika hind

Carrying that out, found a scrape and made an absent-minded call. In runs this wonky young Sika stag. Culled him given his wonky head.

One of those days that makes up for all the days you work really hard to find an animal.

Thats a crazy looking Sika head. Unique.

Good to have him out of the gene pool.

Damaged in velvet running for his life through thick scrub

Seen them grow perfect antlers the following year if damaged above pedicles

If damaged below then they’re toast, drop them and send to the chiller

Sometimes it seems too easy other days you can crawl through shit all day and not hear or see a thing.

Interesting, I didn't know that. I ummed and erred about dropping him but thought it was genetic. He kindly stood there while I decided.
