    This needs to be sorted alright. The first contact in my opinion should be with the company and they should disclose the issue to the Police after confirming that there has been a breach. Assuming it is a New Zealand private company and the knowledge of ithe insecurity gets into the wider community it will also have the effect of diverting attention away from the Police not being able to keep firearms license holders data secure.

    Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
    Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms
