Anyone who hunts Sambar in the Manawatu mind if I tag along?

We are in private forestry and both coastal and inland farms.

A big fast bullet beats a little fast bullet every time
Cheers. Went and had a look in Santoft block 2 yesterday. Didnt see alot of sign, a little bit. Hunted around the lake inside the bush edge and a bit further in towards the coast. No luck. Hope it all goes well.
A few sambar causing problem west of Hunterville , damage to pine trees
Gee that's a long way north, have they got that far?
Whats peoples buzz with these animals we have a few around would swap a decent eating deer anyday!!! Could do without the poachers too
I'd say it's the challenge and enjoyment of establishing enough practical knowledge of a new species to allow regular contact for pictures or the taking of an eater or trophy.
Great having another excuse not to be inside the house

I never used to rate them that much, just big rabbits in the dunes....but then I started hunting them and realised what crafty, cunning buggers they were and am getting more hooked on them. At least on public land anyway, they sound a bit easier on private land
I still enjoy the challenge. Still got a few years to go.
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
definitely something i want to have a crack at
