Thread: Mangatainoka 1

Hey guys heading into mang 1 with Helisika for a look first week of jan. Having never been into this block before any advice would be appreciated by those who have been before. I understand some of the bush is shitty from the storm a few years back but places to avoid because of this would be a great start to save time scouting. Cheers

Which block is that one?

The one at the junction of the Mohaka & Mangatainoka or the other private block up the Mangatainoka bordering DOC land?

I’ve only hunted the from the Mangatainoka Hut on DIC land.

A SHIT LOAD of Ongaonga in there. I found the bush a bit tight but plenty of slips, clearings and while this was a few years back we were just bumping into animals everywhere. Great trip

Hey mate yep it’s the block up the top bordering the mangatainoka doc hut. Good to hear there were plenty of animals in there

Go across the creek from hut follow track up to the big rock on the left climb the rock and big clearing behind it good luck
Rock about 10 - 15 ft high

is this the small creek right by the hut? or the mangatainoka river? roughly how far are you walking from hut to get to rock?
