    Martinborough

    Hi team,

    Just wondering if anyone could recommend a place for a good walk near Martinborough (Wairarapa), just going over there for the weekend for some R&R but I think I'll find sitting around a bit boring after only a few hours!

    I don't have the dog either, I have permits for all surrounding DOC land just not sure where might be better than others, I have all corresponding topos. Cheers.

    Marinborough is pretty much halfway between the Tararuas and Aorangi

    Tararuas: waiohine gorge or holdsworth entrances

    If you head to the bottom entrance of Aorangi, the drive to Cape Paliser lighthouse is nice

    Yup, take Haurangi Rd to Waikuku Lodge road end, that's probably closest to Martinborough

    Yep, Sutherland's. if you have still got CraigC's (my son) cell phone number, ring him for instructions. He will put you right.

    Sutherlands is probley the easiest to get to from where your based. Plenty of deer around the area to.

    Yeah i think they did a heli fly by (not heli hunting, machine not set up), picked someone up and took to hospital!!!! Just have to say i may or may not have been there on the day!!
