    Martins bay, Big bay...

    Gidday everyone

Looking at taking the old man into one of these areas for his 60th during the roar, I have a few questions hopefully some of you maybe able to answer before I lock everything in.

Are these areas "busy" over this time period?

Has any significant pest control occurred in the area?

It looks to be mostly bush so typically close range shooting?

Any suggested operators for getting in? So far have contacted Milford helicopters.

Any other information that you may be willing to share would be great, PM if you prefer.

    Cheers

    James

Yes very, yes WARO most fine days, yes bush, but also clearings, beach, river beds, creeks. But there are plenty of deer and it's awesome country to hunt in. Southern Lakes, Te Anau Helicopters, Fiordland Helicopters, Heli My way, or Haast Heli Services from the Cascade would all be competitive at that time of year etc.

I'm drawn to the mountains and the bush, it's where life is clear, where the world makes the most sense.

Probably no worse than your local spots up there

Remember it got 1080'd during the last Battle for the Birds. Martins Bay in April can have up to 30 - 50 shooters up there. Jet boaters as well as people dropped in by chopper.

Excellent spot for a hunt, except in Mar and Apr! Lots of good opportunities, plenty of clearings, side creeks and flats. Good access through to the Pike. WARO every other day. Haast Heliservices are very accommodating with back loads, tell you where the hotspots are, and will stay clear if they know you are there.

Thanks mate certainly sounds and looks good from all the mapping and imagery I've seen, seems as though it will be very busy.
