Thread: Mate shoots hind with an ear tag - have you?

Not sure what the rules are around shooting escapees. A couple of years back my mate who runs deer thought that escapees on a DOC block were open season, though the tag should be hand over to DOC. He said if it was his deer he'd rather the hunter just bury the tag cause he wouldn't want any shit from DOC. He reckoned too, what were the chances of ever recovering it, unless with a bit of lead . . . hahaha . . . . I have heard some of the more "domesticated" deer have returned under their own steam given the right paddock/gate set ups.
