Im mostly a meat hunter During the roar is about the only time ill shoot a hind in preference to a stag spikers and scrubby heads excepted of course.
In a perfect world we would let the big guy populate the gene pool then if you really want a head take him out afterwards if you can find him again.
Reality is someone else probably will deal to him before he has the chance.
Over the weekend the Pongaroar hunt turned in lots of red heads missing one or both bey tines which I believe is a result of this.
And the winning Fallow head got flogged. Bastards.
