Middle Pisa Block 49 - Any information / anyone been there?

    Hey team,

We managed to pick up the middle pisa conservation block in second period for next year. Has anyone here been there during the year or during the roar?

Interested to know what access routes y'all took (looks like a decent walk in via Rock Peak access track)...

Imagine it's going to be similar to lots of the other Wanaka block regarding deer numbers?

Happy to share what we see to anyone else who got the block in periods 3 or 4 - PM me.

    Cheers all,

Flew in there couple of years ago . Seen a heap of chamois and 6 deer for 3 full days of tramping about the place . Nothing with antlers at all just hinds . Still there’s a few places a good one could hide tho .

Bugger. We had a real similar experience in Cotters Creek block.

    Hey,

Pretty sure you have to fly into that one. Check with the wanaka office. If you are allowed to access via the rock peak track it would be about 4-5hrs on foot from the crown range summit to the edge of the block at Meg hut. Its a 4wd track so riding a MTB would be doable.

We ended up bailing on it after learning a bit more about the spot FYI (returned the ballot to DOC) - unsure if it was reallocated or not.

Was in there a month or so ago. Hind central didn’t see anything else. Did see what looked to be Stag wallows but thought it would be too early in the year so not sure. No expert

Good on you for returning it. To many blocks don't get hunted in the end, when I know there are other parties interested in it.

In regards to the wallows. Have seen hinds using them. Especially throughout summer when its hot and dry.

I see someone mentioned the track in can be mountain biked, would a four wheeler get you into the hut along the track?

I’m guessing the gate will be locked buddy . If you can get a quad in chances are you can get your Ute in then everyone would be in and no one would be talking about mountain biking in . Would be handy though . Lol

I see on google earth there are some photos of a few Landrovers at the hut so there must be assess from some point? Interested to know if its from the Cardrona paid access(no firearms) or from the Crown Range track?
