one of the most creul things Iv ever watched was someone trying to kill a horse with a sks and milsurp rounds

you will loose animals and they will die a slow death.
    highland ammo works great.
be an aweful shame to loose a freezer full of meat because you were too tight to spend $1 on that bullet

That would be because the shooter had no idea what to do, no fault with either the rifle or the ammunition, Humane killing requires drawing an imaginary a line from left ear to right eye and right ear to left eye and firing horizontally where they intersect. Works with beefies as well but sheep are too small and require a shot down through the top of the skull into the brain area..

that is aboslutly correct, if the horse is tame or looking at you, or in a paddock

Ah, so we are not talking "humane killing" here. Doesn't leave much else then, apart from "Hunting........does it?

AH, yes, you have me there, well done.

I never considered those alternatives, probably because the OP was reporting on killing a horse and apart from the so called "Kaimanawana" dobbins, the mad/injured/escaped options seemed a bit remote..........but I am often remote as I age :>)
