    As you well know there is no minimum foot pound or velocity.
    All that matters is the projectile used and if it is impacting at a velocity it works well at.

    there is a story of an elephant poacher who when caught and questioned about how he killed beasts told how he couldnt draw his elephant bow any more and was using .22 shorts!!!! by getting in REALLY close and under animal and placing shot through thin skin of armpit into heart..... stuff that for a game of soldiers!!! Ive shot a couple of boards with the .22lr and it wasnt a lot of fun....much better with enough gun.

    As a guide only I have read 1000 ftp for deer and 1500 ftps for elk /Moose size animals. That would be at the point of impact. Better still use the right bullet and hit them in the right spot. Obviously lower energy levels still work with good bullet placement.
