    Modular packs

Hey ladies and gents, anyone using a modular pack that could give me the pros / cons or recommendations , I'm thinking of going this way for my new pack as I like the idea of the meat shelf, Tatonka X1 seems pretty good but would be keen to hear about any others, chur.

People who have got them speak highly of Spika. And yeah, Kuiu from a sale (they have plenty) or second hand seem good.

Gimp is correct. My Initial Ascent would cost $1,400 at the moment. Crazy. Was $950 landed when I bought it a year ago on a higher exchange rate.

Another vote for Mystery Ranch, harness took a fair bit of adjusting to fit comfortable but now it's the best I've ever worn with heavy loads.
Beefy material and zips as well

Me too, have the sawtooth and Beartooth combo of bags. Fits and carries well.

Mystery Ranch sale. USD prices. Black Ovis good to deal with.

I'm kinda surprised the MR packs aren't more popular here in NZ

People who have them seem to like them eh, but in comparative reviews they invariably fall behind Exo, Stone Glacier etc.

This is a good review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxodCPsV9-I

    Lots of packs reviewed: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCH9...hX8dAFw/videos

Another vote for Stone Glacier if you’re hauling heavy loads. They’re spendy but light, durable, and carry weight well. A frame and minimalist roll top bag will work fine unless you need more capacity for long trips or bulky gear. And there’s always the option to add a larger bag later if you feel the need.
