Nup....pretty much impossible to get one unless your on starlink or know somebody;) with the first in first served system.
Aren't the Molesworth Roar blocks drawn by ballot ? Not part of first in system...??Quote:

Most of the blocks are roar only so shouldn't happen unless its poachers which does happen
Actually that's not correct @Happy Jack.
Most of the blocks can be hunted with permit approval outside of the roar. I have had 2 permits for a molesworth block granted in the past, one in may and the other was Feb. Had to cancel both times as had pretty big weather fronts hot.

You were one of the lucky ones to draw a block. The deer will still be there, just lying low. You may have to put a bit of effort in to score but that’s hunting, it’s not a given that you’re going to score for frig all effort considering the block you’ve drawn. Go in for the designated period, if you score an animal good on you, if not you’ve had the privilege of spending time in some fantastic country that not a lot of people get to see. Either way enjoy the experience. If you don’t go all you’ve done is deprive someone else of the opportunity to experience some fantastic country. I’ve had the privilege to spend time there annually for 30+ years and loved every minute of it.

Think you'll find none of them are roar blocks only. A few available all year, the rest for 3 or 4 months and the roar fulls within those months. So not poaching

I can see a gully out the window that will hold deer, and reasonably accessible. Agree with you @Bos. I do a lot of culling/recreational hunting. All no go areas are marked on gps, neighbouring owners are contacted to set ground rules. And permits, special permits in some cases, are kept current. Frequently use thermal and night vision on private land and yes it’s shooting not hunting in any way. Effective to get on top of animal problem though. There’s few people lost their gear and licence around here who were caught breaking the rules.
