Mt Grey
Anyone hunting Mt Grey??
Apparently there are Red deer in low to moderate numbers and I’ve been told Fellow too?
Been to the tops through Red Beach track a couple of times, no sign, no deer seen.
Seen old sign further on closer to the trig

I’ve shot a few in and around Ashley Forest up into Mt Grey.
Where I hunted numbers would have been termed ‘low’.

I know fire guys and hunting clubs get gate access to the forest for hunting.
Doesn’t appear to be much happening in the DOC block?

Yeh I did the club thing to get legit access and it give a chance to have a good look around but up top there were a few more around.
A mate shot a top Chamois actually in the forest which I found funny and obviously strange.

Used to hunt there a lot. You will get the odd deer on Mt Grey, especially on the bush edge at the top in mornings and evenings, and some good pigs on the back faces. There are more deer in the bush gullies in Ashley forest, surprisingly close to civilisation, and pigs and deer in the Kowhai river valley.
