I can assure you that the 375Ruger I saw used 2 weeks ago does the former.

What load and projectile were they using?

My .375 can be messy when using stoked up 220gr loads of standard construction @ about 2800fps, but with something like 350gr Rhinos or Norhforks @ about 2200fps it just punches through making a nice big wound channel.

The other thing with a big bore (.416 and up) is that you can rely on calibre to cut the wound channel so expansion is less important that in say a .243, just chug 'em through!
