Thread: My recipe for .308 Bush Gun that has become successful (Finally) Not open check book

After ages working with Tikka T3 Lites in .270 WSM,.308 and 300 Win mag
follows what both myself and hunting mate the midget ended up doing to both our .308 s.
Results stunning can shoulder shoot and hit the bottom of 1 litre milk plastic bottle full of water at 200 mtrs
every time. To me that gotta be a kill shot but have only shot 3 Puke at 150 mts so far during testing stage.
Final test will be in the bush week 1 next month. Bit more sighting -checking at mates farm next week.

Any how heres what worked so far for the two indentical guns.

Step 1 : Take 1 x brand new T3 Light and pull it completly to bits.
Step 2 : Forward barrel to Hardy engineering to be shortend to 18" and have one of his suppressors fitted.
Step 3: Include trigger and get it set to 2.5 lbs
Step 4: When it arrives back check all barrell to stock clearances as you will need to Dremel in some places.
(Four from Four of the Tikkas we've played with need some relief some where. My rule of thumb two $10.00
notes must clear all the way down when assembled.)
Step 5 : Reassemble but before doind so put some grease on the alloy block in the stock to prevent
alloy corrosion should the gun get that wet.
Step 6: Purchase a 0 MOA Picca rail kit and fit to the gun using loctite as per normal and even torque settings.
Step 7: Fit Limbsaver Recoil pad.

Scopes : I choose a Leupold VX 1 (Remember it was not an open chq book job was budgeted for and done over time ,
I actually paid Gun City off over a few weeks for this gun as had other housing project happening ie : roof leaks nahh kidding but urgent)

So Leupold VX1 3 - 9 x 50 I like extra light as wear glasses. High mounts to clear rail paid good dollars for the Leupold ones.
The midget got a Leupold VX 1 3-9 4O with his gun so used a rail and low mounts on his.


Lastly Harris Bi pod with swivel and swivel lock kit just a short one to keep weight down.
With 18" barrell and bi pod the gun is just a tiny bit front heavy to hold up for long periods but its
a bush gun the 270 WSM is the long ranger. A mate makes us the pod spikes Yep we copied them from someplace.

This I have carried from the bottom of the Kaimais to the top and back down at least 4 times.
Yep taking the gun for a walk no lucky ending but its a joy to carry around and I dont find it gets heavy at all.
Took mates son to Whanganui, 12 year boy carried one of these all day and shot two fallow hinds.
Not one word of complaint from him , first deer, plus smart ass skull capped two goats.
Its honestly something you carry and go oops theres a magpie and now there isnt.


Happy as with the result and I reckon a grouse bush gun Hi tech not too high value both under $2800.00

Chrony tells us it around the 2750 ft second mark.
Eyesight tells me its fast and make Pukekos into flat pizza shapes.
