Thread: National park hunting

Hi Seansika, not sure where in national park you are located but I have had reasonable luck in Rangatau forest (10mins from Ohakune). There is a metals road that goes right up towards the mountain, so primo access. Lots of little clearings and opening scattered thru the area, and there are both sika and reds about. Just be aware the army use the area regularly for training purposes (they put signs up) but never the less take extra care.

Alternatively the turoa mountain road gives acsess to some nice bush stalking, although it is mainly beech with heaps of crown fern underneath.

I have only been into Erua once and didn’t have any luck so can’t help you with that once sorry.
