And then an Epsom salts bath afterwards to soothe the muscles whenwe were 18! And; didn't go back to the shearer's quarters for a nanna nap at lunchtime!"

"Getting old is not for the faint hearted…" It was Bette Davis who said, "Old age ain't no place for sissies!" I spent a year visiting my dad (usually daily) when he had to go to a home due to Alzheimers.... It was sobering to watch his decline and that of the other residents in that 12-month period. He was a strong, fit, independent farmer and to see what he was reduced to over that 12-months was pretty heartbreaking. But it also made you realise what was ahead, and to make the most of being fit (or fit-ish in my case!)

The other really sobering sight was the number of younger people in there with issues like MS etc...

Not long ago a mate said to me "You realise at our age we've probably got around 20-years in front of us, and the last 10 won't be fun".... Make the most of being above the ground and able to get into the hills!
got to watch my old man slowly die from Parkinson's not something you'd wish on anyone but there's more people deserving of it than him. Had all these dreams and plans of things he was going to do in his retirement.....but never made it that far. Make the most of every day and if you cant try and make someone elses day as you don't know when your numbers up...you don't get a practice run at this one....
