Yip true that. Had my first unfatal shot this year and it was ratshit.
It would be my last resort but increases my options when in close.
Thanks for the advise mate.

I've never neckshot, always gone for the vitals, but I'm also thinking about it, and have talked to various wise heads.
The best of their advice has been :
1) You have to place accurately to bring it down
2) If you CAN'T place very accurately, go for the Vitals .. unless you feel like running around the hills chasing a wounded animal
So it sounds like unless you've got real faith in your accuracy don't attempt this.
I wont be yet.

I have shot quite a few deer in the neck and usually aim for the base of the skull/top of the neck as well and all but one have been bang flop. There's not much room for error with neck shots so i guess it comes down to a matter of knowing exactly where your rifle is shooting as well as having the ability and confidence to place the shot exactly where you want it. In general if you are not confident in where your shot is going to hit i don't think you should be aiming for such a small target.
Neckshot placement?
Pretty sure he's in Dannivirke:thumbsup:
