Need a hunting spot!
My older brothers coming down from the north island on Sunday and he's keen to go for a hunt, my usual is Tekapo but seeing as I'm in Christchurch and that's a 6 hour return trip id love to go somewhere abit closer, anyone have any spots they could suggest? Private message me if you don't want it public, any help appreciated!
Cheers

You are lucky your in the middle of the South Island and handy to a lot of hunting. You can go north, south, west. Try one of the passes or have a look of the DOC maps. If you don't have any luck PM me and will put you onto a area 4 hours drive from chch with a few hinds running around but you will need some good hill fitness. Mostly bush and not so much open ground.

Doc has a good mapping system which shows the open hunting zones. Plenty of areas up both Lewis and arthurs pass or hanmer springs

Lake Sumner is worthwhile but really better for a three day hunt sort of thing, for a day hunt or overnighter head to one of the passes, Lewis or Arthurs, find a creek, go upwards.
