Out of interest, does anyone know what people do with the meat you take if you aren't based in Nelson?
Take chillybins, fill with ice in Murchison from the servo or supermarket when you head home.

@Quintin if you are flying back up to Auckland

Just pack the meat into a ploybin and tape it up good.

Check the polybin in with your luggage. It will stay cold as during the flight, no worries

Myself and a group of top blokes did a fly in last year, Rob from Murchison coppers was fantastic, got us in with clear fine weather , out he had another smaller chopper fly up the valley to let him know when it was possible to get us out.

Ask @ROKTOY and @kukuwai about inreachs , spare power banks etc. they probably saved our arses.

We were dropped up high and other members of the party hunted other parts of the block, we took radios and this would have helped to get the guys below us onto animals in gullies basins across or above them ( if they were in those faces ) or as it turned out them seeing animals heading for us.

We certainly saw a number of animals but our block was not over run with them. The block had a party in before us, so this may have had an effect on our results…

Would I go again? Hell yes ! in a heart beat!

Not this year as life has other plans.

That said I hope they continue with this program, and others get enjoy what we did.

Would love to take advantage of this but alas life has other plans as well. I will be walking into David saddle around Feb, would have saved 2-3 days walking but oh well.

We got a block but then learned that waro is allowed in the blocks before and during the period so aren't going to go, it's an expensive helicopter trip just to fly into an area that could have been bombed up by the helicopters anyhow

The company doing waro then confirmed they had taken "up to 150" deer just out of our blocks in the last few weeks, that's not including what they have taken from the other blocks.

That sucks! Could only be worse if the same operator flying you in was also involved in the waro.

That sucks, If i recall correctlly a certain operator complained about this initiative at its inception but was basicly told to go suck eggs because he had done no recovery for 2 years.
I guess this is the fuck you in return....piss off the rec guys so he can go back to farming the block?

Store these things up in order to make representations to the Minister of Hunting & Fishing.
