Newbie needs to get off the couch!

Hi guys, I pretty much have no experience in the hunting sector, but I have always wanted to give it a go, being brought up in Northland, hunting was pretty prominent around me but I never got to go myself. Now that I'm older with children of my own, I really want to get out and give it a go so that one day, hopefully, I will be able to take my children out and get them off the xbox! Any info on where to begin would be great. I'm based in Waihi now. Cheers! Tom.

Welcome Freshy. You are in the midst of it there and fairly close to some forum members. I am sure they will set you straight.

Welcome. Tomorrows the weekend Freshy, pack up and get them into the hills. The best time to start something is now!

Welcome Tom. Have you got a particular type of hunting in mind, IE goats/pigs/deer ? Waihi is easy reach for a reccy into the Kaimais, which will either put you off for life or make you more determined and learn fast.

Deer is something I would like to work my way up to, for now though, maybe goats? Until I learn the ropes? That is great advice Josh, problem is, I'm quite new to this area also, and wouldn't have a clue where to start I'm looking into getting my firearms licence for starters, then try and hook up with some locals /seasoned hunters who would be happy for me to tag along til I'm capable.
