Thread: Ngapuketurua tops public access (Kaimanawas)

Hi, is there a public access route up to the Ngapuketurua tops?
Start point would be end of Kiko Rd.
Wams maps shows a small corner of private land when track hits the main ridge which I’m guess is a maori trust block?

The track from Kiko road takes you all the way up to the tops. Think you need permission to cross the private land at the top. Used to be Air Charter Taupo but not sure who administers it now.

Yep you'll need permission from helisika to cross ngapuketurua. The track takes you all the way to the cascade hut.

How funny I was thinking about this track today and was going to start a thread. For those that have used it how long to the tops and how long to the cascade. Regards john

I think it’s about 3hrs to the tops. Not sure to Cascade

The HeliSika block called Kakapo comes up onto those tops from the East.

Many years ago I went up the Kiko track and around and down to Kens hut in the Tauranga Taupo river where some mates were hunting. It was a hell of a trip, but the trip from Kiko to the tops is no problem.
