    Smile North Waikato Hunting

    Hey guys!

Does anybody know of any public hunting blocks in North Waikato or any place I can call to get permits for somewhere!?!? I have been out the port and went for a stroll into the Onewhero forest (with out my gun) and some guys pulled up in a hilux and abussed the crap out of me and told me to bugger off. I am a little more cautious about just going out and looking for spots after that! Im young so am fairly new to big game hunting. Anything would help!

    Cheers guys!

Yeti if you get on the internet and visit Department of Conservation you will find how to download a hunting permit for any doc area. Once you have that then as long as you are on doc land you can hunt anywhere the permit covers.

From memory Onewhero is owned/run by PF Olsen, so private property.

Is Onewhero forest a pine forest?. If so, majority of pines land throughout the country is private land and you need to ask permission. There is nowhere to hunt in north Waikato other than the Hunuas and Kaimais. use Walking Access Mapping System to find out if where you want to go is public land and to help you see the lay of the land. Also, get your permit on the DOC website Hunting Permit Application Form. I hope that was of some help. Where are do you live?

Yip olsen and rainer up there. Few people think they own the place. Would be very careful leaving a vehicle in the wrong place

    Yeti - Define abuse?

Were they forestry personnel or stoners from around the corner?
