Yep agree wih Ryan. Probably no one will tell you a good public land deer spot on an open internet forum. Doc office staff are only in a position to give general advice to the public.

As far as i can tell the kaimais are the best area in northern waikato for deer. Undoubtedly there will be good places on or through private land too.

My advice is to visit a different road end in the kaimais each month for a year and include some of the smaller open permit areas in the "north waikato" from the doc maps (in consultation with doc te rapa office about access) . After that you will be the expert and can answer such queries on the forum.
