I'm thinking of heading to the Omahuta/Puketi Forest in Northland this weekend for goats. Any tips?

no tips but interested in how you got on?
Had a better offer, so didn't go. Will think about it again next time I have a free weekend and the weather is reasonable.
My Dad worked as a bushman in the early 50's (just after I was born).
Unfortunately, will need a seance practitioner as he passed in 2013.
A few goats around but not enough to go there and hunt them, one weekend my mates young pup savaged a couple(first animal, let him kill it) and then I ended up shooting a billy later on that afternoon that was hanging out with a sheep! that was forestry cut over in puketi, then the dogs ended up chasing a pig and had it bailed for 2 hours, hell of a day!
mate was quite surprised about the goats, hadn't seen them before.
For what it is worth this year I have seen an avalanche of fotos of pigs..now he takes only pigs over 50lb. So far he has got 160 pigs for the year next to the Puketi Forest. All fat pigs.
Have a look at Google again but try using search words like fish n hunt. As quick as. Fishing.net.nz sometimes those forums have some useful information.
