    Not again!

A man has been shot and killed near the Sparrowhawk Track in the Ruahine Ranges in Hawke's Bay.

It is understood the man was shot at about 11.30am. A rescue helicopter has been dispatched to collect the body and other members in the man's party.

Its been a horrible year for incidents like this! Can see more restrictions on firearm owners which wont solve any problems with a lot of the armedburglariesa d gang related problems

Probably just need a practical course added to the FAL process, maybe at a range.... just like a drivers license. the current MSC test is a joke.
Also a good idea for renewals as it seems a lot of old timers a stuffing up too...... Wouldn't be such a hardship to go through, might even be fun day at the range?

That wouldn't make much difference as most hunting fatalities are not from poor firearms handling. They are from hunters expecting to see a deer, so when they see something that is like a deer they believe it is a deer and shoot it.

I don't think that the " IDENTIFY YOUR TARGET" beyond all doubt can be pushed any harder than it has over the last few years. It gets a bit scary but the chance of dying driving to the bush is more likely.

I guess my thinking is that with some exposure to what can go wrong/right, through drill and practise, it might give people some tools to deal with hunting situations..... rather then taking snap shots etc. We're currently proving we're unable to do it right...... every year

This is bad stuff, thoughts to all involved.
