    NZ Hunter

I see series 10 is back on Duke Sunday evenings at 8.30pm. Have watched the first two episodes on demand as didn't realise it was back on tv.

Watched 4 episodes last night, interesting to watch slow mo of 4 new shooters shooting their first Thar.
One manages to completely let go of the rifle due to recoil. All perfect hits at ranges out to 500+ yards.
I'm not quite sure to make of that. With out doubt it will be a very well set up rifle and as accurate as can be. However either shooting technique doesn't seem to matter or things aren't as they seem.

I see they have dropped Stoney Creek for Hunters element. Wonder why that is?

Loved the first episode - seeing Luke and Greg spend 3 days getting into position to shoot a mature stag. Very cool

All the tv shows make their money through sponsorship packages. These change each year depending on many factors - what a brand wants, has in marketing budget etc. Rab was a good match for NZ Hunter as the guys are into mountaineering and outdoors. We need to see product placement as part of the package as its the only way they can monettise these shows - which are commonly produced in full before payment by the networks

I was wondering how financial it would be when they had to get a chopper in to fly out an injured hunter.
I'm sure they do okay but I'm guessing so many things putting it all together will be stressful at times.

I tried recording the first couple on broadcast...On demand would be better cos TV kept changing the times....started 15min erlier than published....

Bench rest shooters have bugger all contact with the rifle. Free recoil can be the most accurate way of shooting I’m pretty sure. Happy to told otherwise.

Yes but the only contact you have with the rifle doing that is with the tip of your finger on a 2-3oz trigger,

It will sit in the rests by itself indefinitely & stay on target on a decent concrete table

The wind & how you drive the rifle is the difference

    Greetings,
I borrowed an early Chrony in the late 1980's. I came home one day to find my son had it set up in the Garage using a couple of bed head lights and had chronographed his rubber band gun. Velocities had been written on the side of the gun in the 150 fps range.

The only hunting TV show I tune into these days. First episode was great, knocking over heaps of hinds whilst a big stakeout occurred on a big stag somewhere else.
