    Certainly in Canada if something is shot you are required to take every kilo of meat out. This in itself projects more value on the animal that just for example taking back straps.
    That is one thing I really liked watching Meat Eater - from that I gather it's the same in parts of the US as well - you must remove all shot game meat for consumption and not dispose of it - you can get an exemption if the meat is found to be diseased or to have worms. I was really impressed with the level of field butchery they were doing - put boning out on a whole different level
